Review: Pulled

Image
Title: Pulled Author: A. L. Jackson Summary: Melanie Winters and Daniel Montgomery shared a love they believed bonded them together for life.   After the tragic loss of their daughter, overwhelming grief and misguided guilt distorts the truth, and their relationship ends in unanswered questions. For nine years, they drift through life, each unable to forget the one who holds their heart.     Now, when their lives again intersect, will the power that drew them together be enough to heal the wounds from their past? Pulled is a story of attraction and separation, of destiny and duty, of a love so strong it refuses to give up even when all others have. Review: I received this book free in exchange for an honest review. So… when I got this book, I really had no idea what is was about, and went to read the summary. I was expecting something more like contemporary romance, but there was some weird things going on. The story is about a woman and man, who as teenagers

Im going for the same thing that Im sure Many are... Insta-Love. Its ridiculous. Also- Im getting SO tired of triangles. I want to know WHO the person is in love with... and I feel like it takes away from the "love" if the MC loves more than 1 person. Or cant choose. My Weekend...

Image
So… This weekend was Super busy. Saturday we went to my nieces birthday party, which was super cool. We went to this place where you paint Bisque (like Clay) and then they fire it and glaze it to make it shiny pretty pottery, painted by you! Super cool idea, and I plan on taking my daughter there to make/paint Christmas gifts for the grandparents!! Then my daughter had a dentist appointment and they want to pull out one of her back molars because of an infection in the gums. So sad!! But THEN I went to a photo shoot so that my buddy friend/photographer could take pictures of a gorgeous lady for the cover of my debut novel, POWER . This is SO exciting! I know ive talked about how to make an ebook cover before … but really, I don’t know how long it will take! We did the photos, and I just barely glanced through them while there (some of them are UH-MAZING!!!) but then they have to be edited, and then the font needs to go on. I need to figure out what to put on the back, and

Review and Giveaway- A Puppets Secret

Image
Title : The Puppets Secret Author: Alex Samms Summary: A story of a middle-aged woman finding that reality and insanity border on a fine line. A tale of romance that never was and the consequences one must pay for the choices one makes. What happens is unexpected and keeps you wanting more. Review: I received an ARC from the author for an honest review. I must also mention that this is a very short story. So… If you know anything about me and my choice of stories, its that I rarely enjoy short stories. I like   LONG novels, and if it’s a series, it’s a plus. The longer the story, the better. This was very short. Took me about… ten minutes to read. It was a little confusing at first, I couldn’t tell who was talking or not. There is very little dialogue, everything is internal monologue. The story starts out with an older woman who hates life, and then goes into why she hates it. She explains herself, the best she can, about when and why her life fell apart

Update on MY BOOKS! Time to Self-Pub!

Image
So , I haven’t actually given an update on my books in over a month. Yes, I have mentioned little things here and there, but not an actual update. And I think it’s important, because this weekend I went to Veronica Roth’s blog and read back BEFORE she even had an agent to follow her journey and see how she did it. And it was exciting and great to read. And maybe, years from now, I will have an agent, with a publisher and several books published and people will want to know how I did it. So... here it goes. As I mentioned a few weeks ago, I updated my Query and tried Querying Agents again… and since then, I have received only rejections. And I’m pretty tired of it.   I also noticed one of my FAV indie authors (Samantha Young) now has an agent and is traditional publishing her adult novel, On Dublin Street. And it made me feel even more certain of my descision to self publish. I know I have talked time and again about Self publishing vs Traditional Publishing ...but I’m tired

Review: Exiled

Image
Title: Exiled  (Immortal Essence Series) Author: RaShelle Workman Summary: Worlds divided them. Chance brought them together. Only love will save them. An alien princess exiled to Earth. An arrogant boy. One week to get back to her planet or she'll die. And, her only chance for survival? She must help the boy find his soul mate. Piece of cake! Review: First off, check out the cover! They have recently changed the cover (to the second, smaller one I have show) but both are VERY pretty!! But I think I like the original better. So, I have to say that I was extremely impressed by this book. You never know what kind of book you will actually get when you buy a free book… and I had never heard of this author before, so I really didn’t have any idea what it would be like. The story is about an alien princess named Venus, who is exiled to earth on false charges, and the only way she can go home is if she can help a certain human find his soul mate

And just when Adria Dawson thinks the worst of her life among the werewolf world is over, she learns the secret that can rip her and Isaac's love apart. She must choose between two different fates, neither of which can offer life as a certainty. As if Isaac's betrayal isn't enough, Adria learns that there are things out there older and more powerful than werewolves could ever be. An archaic entity known only to few as the Praverian, unlike anything Adria has ever known or heard of. As Adria struggles with her own fateful dilemmas, she must also try to find out why the Praverian is so interested in her and do everything in her power to stay out of its way. Review: Let me start by saying I really like this cover! Way better t

Review- Sweet Venom

Image
Title: Sweet Venom (Medusa Girls #1) Author: Tera Lynn Childs Summary: Grace just moved to San Francisco and is excited to start over at a new school. The change is full of fresh possibilities, but it’s also a tiny bit scary. It gets scarier when a minotaur walks in the door. And even more shocking when a girl who looks just like her shows up to fight the monster. Gretchen is tired of monsters pulling her out into the wee hours, especially on a school night, but what can she do? Sending the minotaur back to his bleak home is just another notch on her combat belt. She never expected to run into this girl who could be her double, though. Greer has her life pretty well put together, thank you very much. But that all tilts sideways when two girls who look eerily like her appear on her doorstep and claim they’re triplets, supernatural descendants of some hideous creature from Greek myth, destined to spend their lives hunting monsters. Review: Well… I have heard of Tera Lynn

Book Reviews- Honest or Mean? Nice or Fake?

Image
So… Recently I joined a Book Tour , my FIRST ever, and I was SUPER excited. But then something happened. The book was pretty disappointing! Now, if you come here and ever see my reviews, you would notice that I RARELY rate something low. I mean, c’mon, I haven’t posted even ONE 1 Star review, and only ONE 2 star review. Any book that is good- gets a 3 Star review . If it’s GREAT it’s 4 , and if its Absolutely AMAZING in every way and I will read it more than once, its 5. But this book was NOT good . It read like a rough draft. There were SO many problems with it that I felt bad writing the review. And I kept thinking, what I would I do if I got a review like this on my book?   It was honest, and not mean, but… probably hurt the author’s feelings, HARD Core. SO-

Query Letters- How to write one...

Image
Query Letters... What are they? Why are they important? And... how the heck do you write one?? A query letter is a single page formal cover letter, that introduces you and your book to a literary (or magazine) agents, publishing houses or companies. That’s it. Nothing more, nothing less. It’s not a resume. It’s not rambling saga of your life as an aspiring writer. Seems simple enough, right? But no... There is a formula you should use, if you want your letter to be a successful one and truly capture the interest of the person you are querying. Good query letters are only one page Query letter breakdown by paragraph: 1.             Introduction: explain why you are contacting our agency. Were you referred? Why are we the agency for this project? 2.             Manuscript pitch/ the hook: what is your novel or nonfiction proposal? You should be able to summarize your novel or nonfiction project in a one pitch sentence or in one short paragraph—like a summary on the
