Review- Shadows

Title: Shadows ( A Lux Novella)
Author: Jennifer L. Armentrout
Rating: 4.5 Stars

Summary (from Amazon)
The last thing Dawson Black expected was Bethany Williams. As a Luxen, an alien life form on Earth, human girls are…well, fun. But since the Luxen have to keep their true identities a secret, falling for one would be insane. Dangerous. Tempting. Undeniable.

Bethany can’t deny the immediate connection between her and Dawson. And even though boys aren’t a complication she wants, she can’t stay away from him. Still, whenever they lock eyes, she’s drawn in. Captivated. Lured. Loved.

Dawson is keeping a secret that will change her existence…and put her life in jeopardy. But even he can’t stop risking everything for one human girl. Or from a fate that is as unavoidable as love itself.

Review:
Well, I have read many a blog about this book, and the next, Obsidian, and I was excited to finally read it.
The book starts out explaining the life of

3 alien siblings, triplets. It explains about their life here, and how they are just trying to continue living among the humans. Then one day Dawson, one of the siblings, meets the new girl, a human named Bethany. They have this instant chemistry and over the next few months, they fall in love. While kissing, she discovers that he is an alien. Now, they are not supposed to tell anyone, but she swears that she will never tell. Then something terrible comes, and they have to fight for their love.

I knew, from reading reviews that there was supposed to be a sad ending, but I was NOT expecting what happened. Be forewarned, the ending sucks!
Other than that, I loved this book! The writing was smooth and flawless, and even though I’m not usually into reading alien stories, this one was an instant love for me. I believed, without a doubt, that these aliens could be living here, among us.
The romance was perfect; they had a connection, then got to know each other, then fell in love. The way it actually happens- it was so believable.
I loved the characters, they were all unique. Each of the 2 main characters were just exactly what I would want in a main character, and all the supporting characters each held their own. I liked that the author would switch POVs. You don’t see that a lot in books, especially to go to more POVs than just 2, and I realize a lot of people don’t like this, but I LOVE it!! I do this in my own writing!!
The only downside, as mentioned before, is the ending.
I’m ALREADY starting the second book, Obsidian.

  1. Truthfully, I dont think they are both gone. In the summary for the second book they mention seeing someone who is supposed to be dead.. yeah.. I dont think they are both gone. Just saying. There is supposed to be 5 in the series I think and I just cant see how this series will be able to do any wrong.

    1. Yeah, but I was afraid to be hopeful for that.
That wa sthe first thing I though though... it COULD NOT be true!
And then, no one got to see the bodies...

      I will be hopeful though!
At least now I will know why Deamon is the way he is... in Obsidian. :)
