She went through a dangerous journey, dragging her young daughter along for the ride, in an attempt to stop the evil Rising Leader, Damien, from opening the Seven Seals and bringing about the Apocalypse.

But she hasn’t succeeded yet. The Rising still thrives and Lilith has made it her mission to open the remaining Seals so that she and her minions can rule the Earth.

David and Allison hope that love can conquer all, but in reality, love is never enough. Will they, along with the rest of the gang back at the Compound, be able to stop the Rising?

And where is The Descendant that is prophesied to save them all?

Power (The Descendant Trilogy #1)

Thousands of years after the battle between the angels, when Lucifer was defeated by Michael in the Heavens, the war is still being fought on Earth by the humans who have their Power, the Angel’s Power.

Allison Stevens is a 21 year old single mother who gets thrown into the middle of this battle when Damien, the Leader of the Rising, decides to hunt her down and kill her because he fears she is the descendant prophesied to save the world.

David, a member of the Order, takes Allison under his wing in order to show her the ropes, and hopefully groom her into being the one they have been waiting for. The only problem is that they start to grow more attached than a teacher/student relationship should allow.

But that isn’t all. Damien wants to open the Seven Seals and bring about the apocalypse and it’s up to Allison to not only save herself and her family, but save the world, all while trying to keep her heart from breaking.
No problem… right?

Review: Boundless (Unearthly #3) by Cynthia Hand

Boundless (Unearthly, #3)

Title: Boundless
(Unearthly #3)
Author: Cynthia Hand

Summary:
The past few years have held more surprises than part-angel Clara Gardner could ever have anticipated. Yet from the dizzying highs of first love, to the agonizing low of losing someone close to her, the one thing she can no longer deny is that she was never meant to live a normal life.

Since discovering the special role she plays among the other angel-bloods, Clara has been determined to protect Tucker Avery from the evil that follows her . . . even if it means breaking both their hearts. Leaving town seems like the best option, so she’s headed back to California - and so is Christian Prescott, the irresistible boy from the vision that started her on this journey in the first place.

As Clara makes her way in a world that is frighteningly new, she discovers that the fallen angel who attacked her is watching her every move. And he’s not the only one. . . . With the battle against the Black Wings looming, Clara knows she must finally fulfill her destiny. But it won’t come without sacrifices and betrayal.

In the riveting finale of the Unearthly series, Clara must decide her fate once and for all.

Review:
Finally got my hands on a copy of the final installment in this awesome series, and im so glad I did.

The story starts a few months after Hallowed ends. (Apparently there is a novella filling in the blanks from the missing summer, but I haven’t read it yet.) Anyways, Angela, Christian and Clara have enrolled in Stanford and have started school there, ready to try to live a life without angels for a little while. A normal life. But, this doesn’t last long because the whole reason for them going to Stanford is Angelas Purpose is there.

Jeffrey, Claras younger brother, has left and decided to do his own thing for a while, which clearly upsets Clara. Clara and Christian consider having a thing, but she is still caught up on Tucker.

Then things get weird. Angela gets pregnant- and the father is a mystery. Jeffrey has a new girlfriend, who isn’t all she is supposed to be. Christian and Clara cant work out their thing, since she is still only thinking about Tucker. Samjeeza has been showing up, non-stop, basically stalking Clara for stories about her mother (since he is still in love with her) And Michael, Claras dad, has started showing up to train her to sword fight.

When things start getting really sticking though, is when someone is captured and taken to Hell. The group of angel-bloods that Christian and Clara are a part of decides not to try and rescue the kidnapped friend, they try to find a way to do it themselves.

The story was very captivating. I enjoyed reading it from start to finish. And I gotta say, through the first 2 books, I was Team Tucker all the way. But he was barely in this book at all, that I gravitated to Team Christian by the middle of the book. I wont say who she ends up with, though, because I don’t want to spoil it.

Review: Imaginable (Intangible #2) by J Meyers

Imaginable (Intangible, #2)

Title: Imaginable
(Intangible #2)
Author: J. Meyers

Summary:
Twins Sera and Luke Raine’s unusual abilities are growing. Sera is healing vampires now, making them human again. And, at times, Luke can actually change the future he Sees.

But Sera’s healing has dangerous consequences, and though Luke is altering the outcome of more visions, he can’t control them yet.

Now Sera is in danger as the dark creatures of the Realm seek to use her. As Luke struggles to master his gift in order to save his sister, he discovers even more about his powers.

And what he learns just may put him in greater danger than Sera has ever been.

Review:
I was very lucky to receive this story free from the author in exchange for an honest review. And Im so glad too, because I loved Intangible (and the novellas that go along with it)
Imaginable did not disappoint. Luke, Sera and the gang are all together again, facing another terrible threat to their lives due to the Prophesy. They are once again attacked, kidnapped, etc, and must find a way to escape the danger. This time though, it isn’t the vampires that are after them, its something considered much worse.

The characters were all there again. Fey and Luke seem to have a little thing, which im all in favor of… except shes like over 1000 years old, and he is 17. But, its whatever. I think its sweet. And then Sera is kinda falling for Jonas. Which is both sweet and kinda creepy. But still, im lovin on Jonas. Though he is the “Angel of Death” or whatever, since he is a big bad warrior vampire, he has a sweet side that I like a lot.

I liked learning more about the other Gifteds, though I don’t like Raquel at all. There was some sadness towards the end, but it wasn’t heart wrenching sadness. I wont say more than that, because I don’t wanna spoil it.

The only letdown is that the book felt really short. I read it very quickly, as I normally read good books, but this seemed way too quickly. (like 2 hours) Im not sure how many words are in this book, but it just seemed really short.

Review Passion (Fallen #3) by Lauren Kate

Passion (Fallen, #3)

Title: Passion
(Fallen #3)
Author: Lauren Kate

Summary:
Luce would die for Daniel.

And she has. Over and over again. Throughout time, Luce and Daniel have found each other, only to be painfully torn apart: Luce dead, Daniel left broken and alone. But perhaps it doesn't need to be that way....
Luce is certain that something - or someone - in a past life can help her in her present one. So she begins the most important journey of this lifetime...going back eternities to witness firsthand her romances with Daniel...and finally unlock the key to making their love last.
Cam and the legions of angels and Outcasts are desperate to catch Luce, but none are as frantic as Daniel. He chases Luce through their shared pasts, terrified of what might happen if she rewrites history. Because their romance for the ages could go up in flames...forever.

Sweeping across centuries, PASSION is the third novel in the unforgettably epic FALLEN series.

Review:
Ok- so if you read my last 2 reviews (which just happen to be of Fallen and Torment) than you will know that the only reason I continued to read this series, is because I got the first 3 at the same time. You will also know that I did not like much of anything about the first 2 books.

BUT- I am SO glad I continued reading, because this book was such a HUGE improvement.
In Passion, Luce is trying to figure things out, so she travels back in time to see her past lives. This was nice to see. I enjoyed being able to see more of what Luce had gone through, and specifically what Daniel had gone through for her.

I loved finally having some character depth. It was nice to see more about Daniel, what he felt and how he got through watching the love of his life die again and again.

AND character growth!! Luce FINALLY wasn’t super annoying! She wasn’t whinny, and didn’t make bad decision after bad decision, just because!

We did learn some things, and a few questions have been answered, though definitely not all of them.

Now, when I pick up book 4, it will be because I want to. Because I finally am invested in this series. Good job, Lauren Kate.

Review: Torment (Fallen #2)

Torment (Fallen, #2)

Title: Torment
(Fallen #2)
Author: Lauren Kate

Summary:
Hell on earth.

That’s what it’s like for Luce to be apart from her fallen angel boyfriend, Daniel.
It took them an eternity to find one another, but now he has told her he must go away. Just long enough to hunt down the Outcasts—immortals who want to kill Luce. Daniel hides Luce at Shoreline, a school on the rocky California coast with unusually gifted students: Nephilim, the offspring of fallen angels and humans.

At Shoreline, Luce learns what the Shadows are, and how she can use them as windows to her previous lives. Yet the more Luce learns, the more she suspects that Daniel hasn’t told her everything. He’s hiding something—something dangerous.
What if Daniel’s version of the past isn’t actually true? What if Luce is really meant to be with someone else?

The second novel in the addictive FALLEN series . . . where love never dies.

Review:
Well, I was gonna say that the good thing about Torment, was that it didn’t take me nearly as long to read it as Fallen did. But then I realized that I skimmed so much of it anyways, it probably doesn’t count.

See, theres this problem I have with the Fallen series, and her name is Luce. She is annoying, selfish, whiny, an idiot, a cheater, a fake, and her inner monologue, which takes up SO much of the books, are so hard to get through.

And that’s how I felt the entire time I was reading it. I was just trying to get through them.
Why did I keep reading , you ask… Well, the story IS interesting. I love angels, demons, etc (BEST book ever, POWER -The Descendant Trilogy #1) I want to know more about the Fallen angels, those that have stayed on the side of good, and those that have turned to demons. I want to know about these Outcasts that were mentioned in this book. Im curious. Kate has peaked my interest just enough for me to keep reading (though I definitely wouldn’t buy these books)

The characters are all back. The worst MC ever, Luce. Her strange boyfriend, who I might like if they had more time together, but as it is, didn’t really impress me. (Though, he is still my favorite character from the series) Cam- who isn’t actually a bad guy now, even though hes a demon??  Molly, Arriane, Roland, and Gabbe- all angels from Fallen. Some new characters as well, Shelby and Miles.

And what a surprise… but  Luce has the hots for HIM too. That’s right, now, in the last few weeks (maybe 1 month since the start of Fallen) she has been in love with Daniel, who she didn’t know she knew, Cam, who is a demon, and Miles, who is a half angel or something. And of course, the all love her too… Cam and Daniel at least have a reason, they have known her for thousands of years and have cared for her along the way… but Miles? Like dude what do you even see in this chick??

Anyways, that whole Miles thing made this seriously fall below the mark. Like, I get the triangle aspect in YA books right now. You want the angst and drama… blah blah. That’s fine. But don’t add another new guy into the mix. Now all I think of Luce is that she is shallow, ridiculous, and all those little adjectives I said earlier. Like, you love Daniel so much, but youre gonna kiss another boy… in each freakin book. Like… wtf? Not an endearing quality.

So… that’s my rant. I think the concept for this series is good. (which is basically the same concept for sooo many out there.) but this book did not do it for me. At all.

Im considering just reading the last few chapter of Rapture, so that I finally get some answers and know how the story ends. But, since I already have the 3rd book too, Im still gonna read it. And like I said in my review for Fallen, ill hope the next book is better than this one.

Rating: 2.5 stars

Review: Fallen by Lauren Kate

Fallen (Fallen, #1)

Title: Fallen
(Fallen #1)
Author: Lauren Kate

Summary:
There’s something achingly familiar about Daniel Grigori.

Mysterious and aloof, he captures Luce Price’s attention from the moment she sees him on her first day at the Sword & Cross boarding school in sultry Savannah. He’s the one bright spot in a place where cell phones are forbidden, the other students are all screw-ups, and security cameras watch every move.

Even Daniel wants nothing to do with Luce – he goes out of his way to make that very clear. But she can’t let it go. Drawn to him like a moth to a flame, Luce has to find out what Daniel is so desperate to keep secret...even if it kills her.

Dangerously exciting and darkly romantic, FALLEN is a page-turning thriller and the ultimate love story.

Review:
So… Im not sure where to start with this. I have seen this book a lot recently, with both positive and negative reviews, and when I saw an Omnibus Edition (the first 3 books) available on the ebook site for my library, I snatched it up.

Now that ive read the first book, I cant decide if I liked it or not.

The story is about a 17 year old (I think shes 17 anyways) girl, who has serious issues. She sees “Shadows” that haunt her, things no one else sees. Then, after going on her first date, the boy dies in a crazy fire, and everyone thinks she is to blame for it. She gets sent to a boarding/reform school, by court order, and then things get even worse for her.

She meets a few people, and of course 2 guys are instantly in love with her, though she doesn’t know why. And of course, she is all crazy for them too, even though she doesn’t know either of them.

Then the paranormal aspect comes into play. And, in case you are one of the few people who haven’t read these books yet, or haven’t heard of what it is… im just gonna tell you anyways… they are angels. (though I know that, that’s about all we know, because even after finishing the first book, you don’t know much else)

I gotta say, I wasn’t impressed with any of the characters. Luce is dumb. I mean seriouslydumb. She is at a reform school for crazy and dangerous kids. And yet, when a guy tells her (a guy she has known for less than a week) to get in a car and leave the school to meet him, (at a place she doesn’t even know) she does it. Alone. Without having a way to get back. So dumb.

She doesn’t understand anything, though the reader catches on very quickly. She is gullible and na├»ve! Not my favorite heroine, buy a long shot.

Then the side characters… no depth. Nothing. I was not impressed at all. And when I finally started liking Arianne, I found out who she is, and then everything you know about her is false anyways.
Lame.

I agree with many reviewers who claim this to be very Twilight-ish. But Twilight was WAY better. Not the best book in the world, but better than this. The first half of this book was so SLOW. I skimmed so much of her inner monologue. (Gotta say that it was so repetitive. Luce continuously repeated what had happened, over and over, even though we had just read it. SO ridiculous!)

The romance... wait, was there romance? I mean, sure… she fell in love with a guy she didn’t know, and had the hots for another guy. Plus both guys loved her. But this all happened in a week’s time… so that’s not really love, right? (Though, it is explained later that they have known each other for a long time, so its understandable why the 2 guys want her… you just don’t know that at first.)

Despite all of that, about half way through the book it got better. There was finally a little action (very little) and some questions were answered, though only a few. And…for some reason I cant explain, I even enjoyed it a little. More than that, im curious about what will happen next.

So, I will start book 2, and hope its better than the first.
